Everyone is in need of a boost from time to time, this little pick me up book is just the ticket!
Welcome to the very first Adventures of Huckleberry Pie story book. Following the moral "where there is a will there is a way", this story follows the journey of a little traditional Cob who overcomes all obstacles to fulfil his dreams of being a competition horse.
This inspirational tale is suitable for all ages of children and adults alike, and is the perfect read for anyone needing some motivation to believe in themselves.
Written by the HorseScotland Equestrian Writer of the Year 2022 winner Steffanie Singleton and beautifully Illustrated by artist Lucy Beattie.
"My son and I have received our book today. beautifully presented, personalised letter inside and a signed copy of the book.
We snuggled up tonight to read the book and my 1 year old son absolutely adored it. He enjoyed it that much he clapped at the end.
Thank you from my little bookworm and I for such a wonderful story to cherish and read over and over. We can't wait for more adventures from Pie. x"
The story behind the book.
The idea for this story popped into my head at 5am one morning, whilst milking cows on a farm back in 2018. A quirky little rhyme kept repeating itself over and over in my mind, and after work I thought to myself "This has kinda got a ring to it, I should really write this down." A few days later I added a few more lines, and the idea of writing a book gradually came to light. Months of scribbling out lines and then crossing them out followed, until I was finally left with some form of story.
I briefly looked into the reality of turning this story into a published piece, but a mixture of lack of confidence, knowledge and life generally carrying me away, lead to the notebook being put to one side to gather dust.
Fast forward to December 2020 (when a lack of work and yet another Covid lockdown forced us all to stay at home), I was inspired to pick up that dusty little notebook again after seeing a post on Facebook from a page called Capture Their Character. This small business is ran by the amazing artist Lucy Beattie who draws the most beautiful cartoon style illustrations and after a few messages discussing the story and what I was looking for, she kindly took on the role of helping bring the book to life. What a fabulous job she has done as i'm sure you'll agree when you give it a read.
Many have asked if there will be a follow up or series of books to go along side this one. All i'm going to say just now is...watch this space!
